Call for 100 “NYC College Representatives”

The Nepal Youth Council (NYC) has consistently aimed to empower youth and foster active participation in nation-building. To further this mission, NYC proposes appointing 100 College Representatives (CRs) in 100 colleges across Kathmandu, covering both +2 and Bachelor’s level institutions. These CRs will serve as the bridge between NYC, students, and college administrations, driving youth engagement and ensuring impactful program execution.

Objective: To appoint and train 100 CRs who will lead, communicate, and implement NYC’s programs and events in their respective colleges, thereby fostering youth empowerment and addressing issues relevant to students.

Role and Responsibilities of College Representatives (CRs):

  • Leadership: Represent NYC within their college and lead student engagement initiatives.

Act as the primary point of contact between NYC and their college community.

  • Communication: Promote NYC’s programs, events, and opportunities to students and college administrations. Gather feedback from students and report to NYC for continuous improvement.
  • Event Organization: Organize and lead college-level sessions, workshops, and events related to NYC’s core themes (e.g., cybersecurity, digital literacy).
  • Mobilize student participation for NYC’s campaigns and activities.
  • Empowerment: Advocate for youth empowerment and act as a role model within their college.
  • Facilitate peer-to-peer learning and mentorship opportunities.
  • Collaboration: Work under the guidance of a designated NYC Leader who will assist and support them in planning and executing programs.

Coordinate with other CRs to share best practices and collectively enhance program outcomes.

Proposed Activities:

  • Training and Orientation: NYC will organize a comprehensive training session for all CRs, focusing on leadership, communication, and event management skills.
  • Thematic Sessions: CRs will lead sessions on key topics such as cybersecurity, digital literacy, youth empowerment, and mental health awareness.

Youth Engagement Programs:

  • Conduct interactive events like debates, hackathons, and workshops to engage students and create meaningful impacts.
  • Feedback and Reporting: CRs will submit regular reports on their activities and student feedback to NYC for evaluation and further planning.
  • Structure and Supervision: Each CR will operate under the guidance of an appointed CR Leader, who will provide ongoing support, monitor progress, and ensure the effective implementation of activities.

Expected Outcomes:

  • Enhanced youth participation in programs addressing critical issues such as cybersecurity and digital literacy.
  • Empowered student leaders actively contributing to their college communities.
  • Strengthened communication and collaboration between NYC and educational institutions.
  • Greater awareness and understanding of pressing social issues among college students.

Evaluation and Monitoring:

  • NYC will implement a performance evaluation system for CRs, based on their activity reports and the outcomes of their initiatives.
  • Feedback from colleges and students will be collected to assess the effectiveness of the program.
