Nepal is a multiparty democratic country, where  youths have a significant role in the election process as well. With the approaching local, federal and provincial level election date, it is important for youths to understand the frameworks of the elections. In Nepal’s upcoming local election, over 3 million young Nepalis will be eligible to vote for the first time.  According to the final voter list of the Election Commission Nepal (ECN) more than half of the registered voters for the upcoming federal and provincial elections are in the 18-40 age group which means there are a total of 8,071,369 voters i.e. 52 percent of total registered voters.Youths are the changemakers of society. They can change the future of society with their knowledge, advocacy and courageous behavior. Youths have a crucial role to shape a country’s future by voting the right candidate during the election process. But, the irony is most of the youths have little to very little knowledge about elections and its processes. 

NYC aims to make youths understand their role in the national and local elections. They will be able to know their rights regarding raising questions to the government regarding various injustices and issues that are rooted in the community. They will also understand the role of youth in free, fairer and credible elections. Nepal youth council aims to make youths aware about different parameters of the election.
